There’s a lot of pressure from society that challenges our desire to be authentic. We may feel we need to portray a certain “persona” in order to get the sale or secure the job.  Think about the commercials we see on television – the Victoria Secret models have the perfect bodies with the perfect curves. Have you ever seen anyone on TV with a bad hair day?  What kind of picture is the media painting for women and young girls?

No wonder so many women suffer from self-image issues.

The truth is we are all different and that is something to be celebrated.

AUTHENTICITY is defined in Merriam Webster’s dictionary as “real or genuine, not copied or false”.

When did it become a crime to celebrate our differences?  It’s what makes us Authentic.

I saw a post on Facebook one day where it revealed a group of about ten women who all weighed the same. Despite their common weight class, all of the women were different shapes and sizes. It was fantastic!

Don’t allow the sensationalism of the media to dilute who you are. Stand firm and be proud of who you are.

In my own experience with building the FABWOMEN Community, what we all embrace and what women like about our community is the Authenticity. You don’t have to pretend. We create an environment that allows you to be the real you. It’s about celebrating YOU. Think of how boring this world would be if we were all the same. God made you just the way you are for a reason. Let your light shine through. Be authentic!
